HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training has many benefits over other exercise modalities. HIIT, also known as Tabata, was developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata as head of the Japanese speed skating training protocol.
Short in duration but intense bouts of exercises are followed by a short rest of ten seconds. This sequence is repeated through a series of exercises, which results in benefits to both the aerobic (cardio) and anaerobic (strength) systems. That means one can obtain fat loss without having to experience the muscle loss often associated with long cardio sessions.
The quick pace of this style of workout makes it very engaging and interactive. Many people find that the time seems to fly by!
Park East Fitness now offers HIIT Circuit Saturday mornings at 8AM...come check it out!
